Tom Morello Calls For 10,000 Guitarists To Join Him In NYC Park As Part of Occupy Rally
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has put the word out for 10,000 guitarist to join him in New York City’s Bryant Park on Tuesday, May 1, at noon ET, as part of the May Day Occupy Wall Street demonstrations.
The politically minded axeman hopes to rally the musical troops as part of a planned rally by the Occupy Wall Street movement that is scheduled for 8AM ET through 4PM ET in Bryant Park, followed by a rally in Union Square and a march down to the Wall Street area.
If you’re not a guitar player, but still want to take action with Morello, the RATM rocker says bring whatever instrument you want. Here are a couple of Tweets from Morello urging musicians to join the cause:
I’m putting a new band together and ur in it. Our 1st rehearsal is tomm noon @ Bryant Park in NYC. Looking for about 10,000 guitar players

Join my new band! Don’t have a guitar? Bring a drum. No drum? Bring a kazoo. No kazoo? Just come. Bryant Park/noon tomm. #MayDayThrowdown — Tom Morello (@tmorello) April 30, 2012
In addition to rocking Bryant Park tomorrow, Morello is set to join Ben Harper and the Roots for what he promises to be a very memorable performance tonight (April 30) on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.’ Check out his Tweet about the ‘Fallon’ performance here:
