One student has been shot and another is in custody as another high school shooting has taken place, this time at Albemarle High School in Albemarle, North Carolina.

The incident took place at around 7:40 am in the courtyard in the front of the school after an altercation between two students took place. One of the students pulled out a gun and shot the other student in the leg. The school was placed on lockdown and after Albemarle Police responded to shots fired, the shooter then dropped his gun and surrendered.

Albermale Police Chief William Halliburton said:

What could have happened we’ve seen across the country, we escaped that … He could have done more so the reaction is that we’re thankful that he gave himself up.

When the police showed up, they located the victim, who was shot in the leg and them located the shooter, who was immediately placed into custody. The condition of the gunshot victim is unknown but is expected to be okay.
