The New Orleans Saints have not contacted running back Mark Ingram, one of their most consistent players during a dreary 7-9 season, about a new deal.

This could essentially mean one of two things. Either they don't have any interest in bringing Ingram back, or they haven't gotten to his name on their list yet.

I'm gonna hope and guess that it's the latter. GM Mickey Loomis mentioned Ingram's name when talking about the "bright spots" in their 7-9 season.

If the Saints had picked up Ingram's fifth-year option deal last year, it would put him making $5.2 million in the 2015 season. Ingram understood last season when they opted not to pick it up. He said it would motivate him. And motivate him it did.

Ingram had his best season in the NFL thus far. He rushed for 964 yards with 9 touchdowns on 226 carries in 13 games.

If the Saints do decide to bring Ingram back, perhaps they'll go with a deal that would pay him less. It would then, of course, be up to Ingram if he would accept it or not.
