With the New Orleans Saints in need of a Wide Receiver after Joe Morgan was injured and out for the season, this is some refreshing news! Robert Meachem was let go by the San Diego Chargers, and according to this report is on the verge of a Saints reunion! Keep reading for more details!

From NFL.com:

Robert Meachem might be headed back to the Superdome.

ESPN's Bill Williamson reported Tuesday that Meachem, a substantial free-agent bust with the San Diego Chargers, is "on (the) verge" of re-signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Meachem had just 14 receptions for 207 yards and two touchdowns in his lone season with the Chargers, who paid $5 million to cut ties with the veteran wide receiver on Saturday. He still counts $6.875 million against the 2013 salary cap and additional dead money in 2014.

Meachem was a consistent and productive player during his time with the Saints, compiling 129 catches for 1,980 yards and 20 touchdowns in his final three seasons before leaving as a free agent in March 2012.

Meachem carved out a nice niche in the Saints' offense, but it remains to be seen if Kenny Stills andNick Toon both flashed potential during the preseason and will get their chance to contribute. Joe Morgan's season-ending knee injury opened up a spot for Meachem, but nothing is promised.

What do you think? Would Meachem be a good pick up for the Saints?
