Physicists have made a major discovery by observing the stars. Albert Einstein once predicted that gravitational waves would be a whole new way for us to see the universe. The prediction has become a reality as this discovery was made in Livingston Parish, Louisiana and in the state of Washington.

Scientists at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) in Louisiana and in Washington state got together via the World Wide Web to announce to everyone that they have detected gravitational waves, 100 years after Einstein's prediction.

Gravitational waves are ripples in the fabric of space-time. They exist from the merger of two black holes that have masses equal to 29 and 36 suns, respectively, and are around 1.3 billion light years away. To learn more about gravitational waves, watch the video and click the link below.
