Pantera Reunion Coming Soon?

Could a Pantera reunion be coming our way? The bands’ manager recently spoke about the rumors of a one-off show with Zakk Wylde playing in Dimebag’s place, calling the rumors “fabricated.”

According to rocknewsdesk.com, the band’s manager has stated the surviving members of Pantera will never play together again .

Rumours have been circulating about the possibility of a one-off appearance by Phil Anselmo, Vinnie Paul and Rex Brown – with Black Label Society mainman Zakk Wylde playing guitar in place of Dimebag Darrell Abbott, who was shot dead on stage in 2004.

A Facebook cause page to turn the possibility into a reality – and settled the long-standing bad blood between Anselmo and Dimebag’s brother Paul – has gathered over 2000 supporters. Meanwhile, an online poll reveals three-quarters of those who voted would approve of Wylde’s appearance.

Gossip website The Metal Den recently stated Paul was potentially interested in a memorial show, quoting a source who said: “If it does happen, it will be for only one show.”

But now band manager Kimberly Zide-Davis has shot down all the talk, stating: “There is never going to be a Pantera reunion show.

“The Metal Den posted a story that claims someone from Vinnie Paul’s camp is the source. The story is a complete fabrication. There is no truth to the story. Without Dimebag there is no Pantera.”

The band split in 2002. Strained relations between Anselmo and Paul broke down, seemingly permanently, when the singer made derogatory statements about his former bandmate in a press interview which happened to be published in the week Dimebag died.

Anselmo has frequently tried to make amends, saying he’s dealt with the addiction issues which led him to say things he didn’t mean. But Paul has refused to be drawn into conversation with him.

The singer and bassist Brown appear together in Down, while Paul is currently working with Hellyeah.
