The NFL is gonna test the waters in moving extra points further back. It's only going to happen in two out of four preseason games though.

Extra points have never been a huge deal in the NFL. They've always been almost a given...an after thought. When the Saints scored a touchdown, you pretty much assumed they got 7 points out of the deal (unless it was that two point conversion in the Super Bowl!).

Apparently though, extra points were a heated category in the NFL boardrooms, cause they're testing out the waters of whether they should move the extra points' snap back to the 20 yard line.

This would put the actual kick from about 38 yards out. The waters will be tested in the first two preseason games.

If you think back on a team driving the ball 80 yards down the field in the last minute of the game, and relying on the kicker to make that 38 yarder to win...and then it doesn't happen (hello Saints fans!).

It kinda starts making sense that the NFL would want to implement this rule now doesn't it? A field goal/extra point kicker's worth is now upped. It's better than getting rid of extra points altogether, which is something else they were considering.

What do you think about this proposed rule change?
