New System Of A Down Album?
October 10, 2011 4:33 PM System of a Down drummer, John Dolmayan, was interviewed when they played 2011 Rock in Rio. During the interview he mentioned that another System of a Down album is ‘going to happen’. But when?
After System of a Down’s last two albums, Mesmerize and Hypnotize, which were a joint album, the dudes decided to put System on hiatus and focus on their other projects. Singer Serj Tankian of course got busy with his solo records. Last year, though, System of a Down regrouped and played some shows. And they’re continuing to play shows. With that being said, everyone is asking when they will hear a new record!
Dolmayan goes on to say, ‘For the people who are waiting for an album… I know there’s a lot of people waiting for an album…I’m waiting for an album just like they are. It’s going to happen when it’s right and when we can make something that tops what we’ve done in the past.’
But don’t expect it to be in the very near future. Dolmayan continues, ‘We don’t generally work during Christmas so we’ll be home for the next three or four months, and then Serj takes off and goes to New Zealand for a couple of months… he lives part time in New Zealand. And then I think he’s got another solo album coming out next summer. So you might see System touring next summer, you might not.’
