Officials with the New Iberia Police Department say they are searching for a man who should be considered armed and dangerous after they say two incidents were reported this past weekend.

They say anyone who comes into contact with this man to proceed with extreme caution and call the police.

Sergeant Daesha Hughes, Spokeswoman for the New Iberia Police Department, says they are searching for 25-year-old Rickey Rashawn Thibodeaux Jr. for several crimes including Attempted First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Burglary.

Hughes says that there was an attempted armed robbery Saturday, April 16th in the 600 block of East Admiral Doyle Drive. In addition, there was a shooting that happened on Easter Sunday, April 17 at the intersection of South Hopkins and Field Streets.

She adds that Thibodeaux was developed as a suspect in the case in which a man was shot in the head at a store on Easter morning at around 9:30. Thibodeaux is also wanted on multiple charges, and are the charges are listed below:

  • Attempted First Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Burglary
  • Armed Robbery
  • Possession of a Firearm of Carrying Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
  • Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities

Officials are asking for the public's help in locating Thibodeaux. If you know anything about where law enforcement can find the man, you are asked to contact them right away.
