May 3 Is ‘Free Comic Book Day’ Around The Country And In Acadiana
Free Comic Book Day is happening on Saturday, May 3! It's a nationally celebrated day of free comic books, and it's happening here in Acadiana!
Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) happens the first Saturday in May every year!
Next Saturday over 2,000 participating comic book specialty shops across the US, Canada and worldwide will be giving away over 4.6 million comics to kids and adults who come to their comic shop! There are 60 free comics available to choose this year with titles that include Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, DC’s The New 52: Futures End, Spongebob, Archie, Hello Kitty, Power Rangers, Transformers vs. GI Joe and more that are great for readers of all ages.
In addition to handing out free comics, comic shops will hold special events such as costume contests, store-wide sales, raffles, creator and artist signings, pictures with costumed heroes and more for community involvement.
This is a great opportunity for avid comic book readers to grab some free material, and also a great place to start if you've never picked up a comic book before!
There is a comic book shop in Acadiana that will be participating as well.
