Marketwatch.com has just named Lafayette,La the "Happiest City In America"!  A total of 6 Louisiana cities made the top 12, including Homa, Shreveport-Bossier Alexandria, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. But, believe it or not, there's actually a downside to this we'll get to that later.

The most unhappy city in the country? New York City.

Louisiana is also the happiest state in the country as well.

From marketwatch.com -

"That’s according to data coming from a working paper by Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv. They used data collected in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, and then adjusted it for age, sex, race, income and other factors. (Such adjustments are important — women, for instance, are happier than men; the married are happier than single or divorced respondents; and so on.)"

OK, so what could possibly be the downside of living in the happiest city in America? Living in an unhappy city apparently gets you a better house, according to marketwatch.com. Also, rent is much higher in happier cities.
