Madame Karine Ruatta, who taught two of my kids in the French Immersion program at Myrtle Place Elementary, is in dire need of Acadiana's help right now. While on vacation in Mexico with her young son Robin, the two were involved in a terrible car accident that currently has Karine in a medically-induced coma.

Robin is reportedly OK and is currently staying with the surgeon in charge of Karine. Karine's father, Jean-Claude has reported today that she is doing a little better, the swelling in her brain seems to be going down, but is still under the medically-induced coma.

All of Korine and her son's belongings, including laptops and personal effects, were left in the vehicle at the time of the accident. It's believed  that none of those items are left due to theft and damage as a result of the accident.

Here's how you can help. A gofundme account has been set up to help her with the huge cost of medical bills that are stacking up, and to help get her back to Lafayette, God willing, when she's able. Click HERE to donate if you can.

Karine is an amazing French Immersion teacher in Lafayette, Louisiana. This summer she and her son Robin went on a trip. Unfortunately, she was in a terrible accident and is currently in the ICU in Mexico. She and Robin will probably need to be flown back when she gets stable enough and she is facing some enormous medical bills. Any money you are willing to donate will help this amazing teacher on her road to recovery.
