HBO is currently reaping the rewards of the Foo Fighters documentary series, 'Sonic Highways.' And in 2015, fans can look forward to a new documentary based on the life of Dave Grohl's Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.

Rolling Stone reports that the film is called 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck' and it's scheduled to air on the pay cable network next year. Oscar nominee Brett Morgen ('Crossfire Hurricane') directed, wrote and produced the film with the cooperation of Cobain's family. Speaking of which, Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain serves as an executive producer on the film.

The director was granted access to Cobain's entire personal and family archives and the film will include Nirvana performance footage, previously unheard tracks, home movies, journals, demos, songbooks, artwork, photography and more.

Morgen says, "Once I stepped into Kurt's archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects, countless hours of never-before-seen home movies and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media."

As for the name, it comes from a musical collage that Cobain created with a 4-track cassette recorder around 1988. The collection featured original material and sounds combined with Nirvana demos and tracks recorded from the radio and Cobain's own record collection. Van Halen's 'Eruption,' Sammy Davis Jr.'s 'The Candy Man' and the Butthole Surfers' 'Eye of the Chicken' were among the non-Nirvana tracks that Cobain added to the collage.

Stay tuned as official details are announced for the 'Montage of Heck' air date.
