Julia Roberts is reportedly seriously considering taking on a role that would put her playing former Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco.

The second season of American Crime Story will reflect on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Blanco's gubernatorial tenure was right in the middle of the disaster.

The first season of the true crime anthology series was about the O.J. Simpson murder trial, and attracted people with some star power, like John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., David Schwimmer, and more. So, seeing Julia Roberts in an important role on the show isn't so far fetched.

The Hollywood Reporter said the second season of the show “will follow a group of six to eight people in an attempt to examine all sides of the (Hurricane Katrina) tragedy, from the Superdome to the hospital to those who were put on buses and dropped off with babies who were forced to wear trash bags for multiple days.”

Series writer and producer Ryan Murphy told them, “I want this show to be a socially conscious, socially aware examination of different types of crime around the world, and in my opinion, Katrina was an (expletive) crime — a crime against a lot of people who didn’t have a strong voice and we’re going to treat it as a crime. That’s what this show is all about.”
