A beautiful five-story moated compound that looks like something out of a movie sits in Breaux Bridge! Did you even know something like this existed in the Acadiana area?

This five-story home, that looks like a vampire out of an Anne Rice novel would live in it, sits on a 13.9 acre compound at 1424 Rookery Rd. that sits on Lake Martin in Breaux Bridge.

Back in 2012 in was actually on the market for $6.83 million, but was delisted later that year. A local antiquities dealer owned it at the time of it's listing.

The house is part of an assortment of 1820's buildings that were moved and restored on the property.

Here's part of a description of the house from realtor.com:

Acting as the showpiece of a formal French garden, the monolithic property is both slender and sophisticated, rising five stories high with a fourth-floor terrace and fifth-floor rooftop patio capping off the impressive structure. Measuring 2,700-square-feet, the symmetrical home opens to a formal dining room, living area and kitchen, while the second and third floors each feature a bedroom suite.

A Planet Radio Citizen named Gabe called when he heard me talking about the house on the air, and said that his brother, Rubin, who works for Armentor Construction, helped to restore the house! He said the moat was tough to build because of all the water moccasin and other snakes in the area.
