Many people think that workers in the film industry are actors, directors, and a camera guy. That's far from the truth.

WWL says New Orleans native and film industry executive Will French is seeing the devastation, and is thinking of the film crew members that are looking for work. With the film industry down 85%, according to French, there are plenty who are.

"Most people think that a film is composed of actors and directors and cameramen, but really the hard work that is done on a film set is carpentry building sets and electricians setting up the lighting and the wiring and plumbers, and equipment operators," French said.

French is working on a registry of the thousands of film industry professionals from right here in Louisiana that are unemployed, and matching them with those that want to hire them for their skills. This will help to keep work here in Louisiana, instead of hiring outside of the state.

One profession that some may not think of are caterers, who are also in need of work.

"Each catering truck can serve 5,000 meals a day, and we've got four of them sitting unused right now,” French said. “If we have people who can't make food in their own houses, their own kitchens, they're displaced, or if we have a workforce that needs to be fed, catering trucks can do it."
