I just had the pleasure to interview one of my favorite musicians of all time. I got to speak with Sean Yseult, who played bass in the metal band White Zombie for 11 years, from it’s beginning to the unfortunate end.

She is now based out of New Orleans and has a new group called Star And Dagger. It features members of Eagles Of Death Metal, Queens Of The Stone Age and Cycle Sluts From Hell. Also, the band features vocalist Von Hesseling who Yseult calls “the best kept secret in New Orleans”. “She has this insane voice, very bluesy, really strong, has the looks of Cherie Currie and the balls of Rob Halford,” says Yseult laughing. “She’s really funny, candid and dirty at times on stage.”

We also spoke about her book, which is called ‘I’m In the Band: Backstage Notes from the Chick in White Zombie’. The book is an impressive collection of paraphernalia of her touring experiences with White Zombie. “White Zombie had a box set coming out and I found 10-15 boxes of amazing stuff that kinda sums up that whole era,” says Yseult.

After original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward made an official statement regarding the situation on why he will not be participating in the upcoming Sabbath reunion shows, the band made a pretty ‘childish’ response.

On Sabbath’s official website, all pictures were altered to crop out Bill Ward and all pictures of just Ward were removed. You can see example of it below:

Black Sabbath has found a drummer to replace Ward but that drummer has yet to be announced. We will update you as soon as we find out who it is.

When you see flashing lights in your review mirror you know to pull over because it’s an emergency vehicle. It’s a simple rule that most everyone knows to follow,although on the roads that I travel many people ignore it. Perhaps those folks should visit Mississippi. Cause their police departments are warning drivers NOT to pull over for flashing lights. Although, there’s a very dangerous concern…read after the jump to see why. UPDATE after the jump.

“If someone attempts to pull you over with flashing lights and you feel unsure of stopping, DON’T PULL OVER. Use your cell phone and dial 911, and if it’s a real officer then the dispatcher will confirm it for you, and if it’s not a real officer they will send help to you.”

 

The office promises that deputies have been told not to panic if a driver refuses to immediately pull over, noting “your safety is our primary concern.”

Investigators believe the shooter is driving a gold unmarked Crown Victoria sedan that resembles an unmarked police car.”

Since Mississippi is so close to us, let’s just keep this in mind. While it would still be in your best interest here in Acadiana to pull over for flashing lights in your rearview mirror, if you ever don’t feel safe or are in a dark area or an area that feels wrong, it is my understanding that police are typically trained to follow you to a safer area. Just don’t go speeding off.

UPDATE according to KLFY:

“Authorities in Mississippi say they’ve arrested a suspect in two fatal highway shootings that happened late at night along desolate stretches.  Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says 28-year-old James D. Willie will be charged with two counts of capital murder in the shootings. He’s being held at the Tunica County jail in north Mississippi.  Strain says he was not posing as a police officer in the shootings as authorities previously suspected.  Strain says authorities were able to match ballistics from the shootings to a 9mm Ruger found in Willie’s possession when he was arrested.  Mississippi law enforcement agencies had warned motorists that someone may be posing as an officer because the shooting victims had no obvious reason to be stopped on the interstate where they were found.”

The 2012 Carnival of Madness lineup has been announced and with female fronted bands Evanescence and Halestorm leading the charge, the annual tour is chock full of girl power. But there’s room for the gents, too, as Chevelle and New Medicine round out the bill, serving up a stellar lineup of today’s best acts in modern hard rock.

The tour is set to kick off on July 31 in Springfield, Ill., and run through the rest of the summer and into early September, crossing the United States; check out the full list of dates and locations below.

All four bands have new music to bring to the stage. Evanescence released their self-titled disc at the end of 2011 and have been road warriors ever since. Halestorm recently wrapped up their Mass Chaos tour run with Godsmack and Staind and just dropped their latest album ‘The Strange Case of…’ in April. Chevelle’s ‘Hats Off to the Bull’ came out in December of 2011, and the newest band on the bill, New Medicine, released their debut disc in 2010.

It was just recently that Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee was singing the praises of Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale. And now Lee offers her excitement about being on the same bill as Halestorm and Chevelle: “We’re really looking forward to the Carnival of Madness tour this summer. We love Chevelle and haven’t hit the road together in years, and I’m really stoked to finally be playing some shows with Halestorm. Naturally, I’m a fan of strong women in music and Lzzy’s voice is spectacular.”

Ticket pre-sales kick off on Tuesday, May 22, with radio pre-sale tickets available first. Carnival of Madness fan club members can begin purchasing tickets Wednesday, May 23 and artist fan club pre-sales start Thursday, May 24. General public on-sale begins Friday, June 1. Hef and crew have mastered the art of finding the foxiest girls in the world and presenting them to us in all their glory. We’ve all done it. We buy a small bag of groceries at the store to donate to a food bank. We bring toys for the tots. We buy some gloves and a scarf to put on a tree for a needy child. But few of us have done what Rankin Paynter did for his Clark County community.

Paynter is a businessman in a Kentucky town where a Kmart store is going out of business. He asked the store what would happen to the unsold merchandise left on the shelves and was told that “power buyers” would come in and purchase the remaining inventory.

But they won’t be doing that, because Paynter beat them to it. He spent six hours and $200,000 buying everything that was left in the store. Then, after checking out on four different registers, he donated everything he had just purchased to charity. Paynter bought out the Kmart and then passed the savings onto his community.

Said Paynter, simply put, “It’s time to give back.”

A Clark County Community Service employee said of the good deed, “This will be the first year we have enough hats, coats and gloves for all the children we serve.”

Here’s the latest in the continuing saga over the fallout from the Alabama fan teabagging an LSU fan incident. The Alabama fan, Brain Downing, has been indicted by an Orleans Parish grand jury on one count of sexual battery of a male victim, and one count of obscenity, according to the New Orleans’ District Attorneys office. His bond was set at $50,000.

From WWLTV… “The indictment against Downing, 32, formally charges him with one count each of sexual battery of a male victim and obscenity.

“While we’re obviously disappointed, we remain confident in our defense,” Downing’s attorney Michael Kennedy said.

A video that went viral on the Internet appeared to show someone in a University of Alabama jacket abusing an unconscious Louisiana State University fan after Alabama beat LSU for the BCS football championship, Jan. 9.

Downing, of Smiths Station, Ala., was later booked on charges of sexual battery and obscenity. He was videotaped Jan. 9 “placing his genitals on an LSU fan’s face. The LSU fan appears to be heavily inebriated and practically unconscious,” a police statement said.

Kennedy said he hoped the case would be brought to a quick resolution.

“It’s my impression that the state is anxious to get this done,” Kennedy said. “There is no resolution on the table at this time, but we hope to get something done quickly.”

Downing remains “fairly upbeat considering the situation,” Kennedy said.

Downing was fired from his job after the video was posted, the attorney said, and has been unable to find another because of charges pending against him.”

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees recently said in an interview with WWL radio in New Orleans that he is extremely frustrated that he is not signed yet to a long-term deal with the New Orleans Saints and he could miss the first organized offseason practice next week.

“I’m gonna be as prepared as I can possibly be with whatever happens. You know, if that means missing OTA’s, missing mini-camp, missing training camp, I will be as ready as I can possibly be.”

Brees says he’s committed to the Saints but there’s not enough conversation between the two sides.

“There’s always back and forth, you know, when it comes to these negotiations, but, um, I know that we’ve reached out on quite a few occasions and, um, at times I know I’ve been frustrated with a lack of response.”

Brees says these negotiations shouldn’t be difficult.

“There’s certainly a, what I think, would be an appropriate I guess number for my situation. It’s not, I think, anything that’s unreasonable or anything like that.”

It’s been reported Brees is seeking a deal that would pay him around $21-million dollars a year, while the Saints are said to be offering about $19-million annually. If a deal is not done by August, the franchise quarterback is prepared to sit out of training camp. He says that he wants to return as soon as possible, but the bounty gate scandal is truly making this offseason slowed down.

Meanwhile, the grievance filed by the NFL Players Association on behalf of the Saints players suspended in the bounty scandal was heard Wednesday. The union claims NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn’t have the authority to hand out discipline for player conduct that happened prior to the collective bargaining agreement that was signed last August. It’s not known when the arbitrator will rule.

Four current and former Saints players were suspended, with current Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma facing the harshest punishment. He was suspended for the entire 2012 season without pay. Another current Saints player, defensive lineman Will Smith, was suspended for four games. Two former Saints players, defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove and linebacker Scott Fujita, received eight and three game suspensions respectively.

Another hearing has been set for May 30th as an arbitrator will hear arguments on that day whether Goodell  should be the one to hear the suspended players appeals.

And Saints Head Coach Sean Payton may be suspended for the season and has already lost his appeal, but he’ll still be with the team in spirit. The Saints will leave his seat empty on the team bus and plane and also during team meetings. Interim Coach Joe Vitt has acknowledge it won’t be easy to have Payton not around.

It seems as though Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp becomes a bigger attraction by the year, not just for the fans and those willing to shell out for the experience, but for those in the industry willing to serve as instructors.

The annual event, now in its 15th year, will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Oct. 10-14, with KISS’ Gene Simmons, Motley Crue’s Vince Neil, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde and ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach leading the way.

Simmons stated of his involvement, “I can’t wait to reveal the secrets of becoming a rock star. Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp is a grueling, military-style musical training process. And I’m just the guy to be your sergeant. Now drop and give me twenty.”

Campers of all talents and skill levels will get to learn from Simmons, Neil, Wylde and Bach among others, with the chance to write and record an original song and jam nightly with legendary rockers. The death of Beastie Boys emcee Adam Yauch hit a lot of people hard, but there were some fans who immediately rallied to make sure that the man also known as MCA would get his day in his hometown of New York.

On May 11, both a Twitter and Facebook page went live with plans for an “MCA Day,” and organizer Michael Kearney is happy to announce that it will become a reality at New York’s Union Square this Saturday (May 19). Kearney posted a photo via Facebook of a subway train and stated, “Picture an NYC Subway car full of all types and walks of life … singing Beastie Boys songs in unison. That’s my vision for MCA DAY NYC. I’m going to build that. Thanks for the support. That train’s a coming.”

MCA Day will kick off at 11:00AM ET in New York’s Union Square this Saturday, and everyone attending is encouraged to bring songs, memories, and anything else they feel will pay tribute to Yauch’s life.

Meanwhile, New York State Senator Daniel Squadron also made sure that Yauch was recognized on the legislative floor. He drafted a resolution that was heard and adopted by his fellow politicians. Resolution J4637-2011 recognizes Yauch’s many contributions to the state of New York, and while it stops short of declaring an official MCA Day in New York, it did allow the politicians a chance to take a break from their proceedings and honor his memory with the reading of the resolution.

In the resolution, it reads, “The music and message of the Beastie Boys evolved over the years, but they can’t, they don’t, they won’t stop changing the face of hip-hop, of music, and of our culture; and whereas, the Beastie Boys exemplified New York through a period in which grassroots creativity and a community of iconoclastic artists helped redefine and rejuvenate a city on the ropes, with iconic imagery from Brooklyn to Ludlow Street.”

The resolution also addresses Yauch’s work outside the band with the charitable organization Milarepa, as the founder of the film distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, and his life as a family man and activist. The full resolution was transmitted to Yauch’s family. The full text may be read via the New York Senate’s Open Access database.

Black Sabbath are taking the high road after Bill Ward‘s recent lengthy statement about his non-participation in their reunion.

The group issued a statement late Thursday that read, “We have decided not to make any detailed comment on Bill’s latest statement. There are two sides to every story. We have been working hard at rehearsals making excellent progress after Tony’s treatments and we have engaged a substitute drummer for the forthcoming shows. See you at Download.”

In his statement earlier this week, Ward revealed that he and the other members of Black Sabbath had failed to come to terms on a contract for the reunion. The drummer felt that it was important that he stand up for himself where the band was concerned, but felt horrible that he was letting the fans down as a result. “I know in my heart, I couldn’t have done these concerts by agreeing to the terms suggested,” explained Ward.

He also added that he had been offered a chance to “minimally” play, while sharing the drumkit with another drummer during Black Sabbath sets, but was not willing to sit back and watch another musician play while he was only allowed on three songs.

Ward revealed that he learned about the band’s summer plans through an advertisement for the shows, and realized then that a signable contract was not going to be presented. He concluded, “I didn’t want to make this decision, but I have to be transparent and honest.” As for future work with the band, he says he still has an open mind and a willingness to negotiate a “signable” contract.

For some diehards, paying “only” $60 for a game as sacred to them as Halo 4 just doesn’t feel right. Nah, for those who live and breath all that is Master Chief, the only way to go is to fork over $100 for the limited edition package. The game isn’t due out until Nov. 6, but Microsoft is already getting fans hot and bothered by flashing the extras that come with the limited edition.

Joystiq describes the contents, the most tangible of which is the over-sized metallic box that will make the game stand apart from others on your shelf. There’s also a mini-book dubbed the ”UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet,” as well as a load of downloadable exclusives, including an instantly-downloadable map pack as well as a voucher for three more packs that will come out later on. As far as bonuses go, most of these seem to be yawners. There are no statues, mini-helmets, night-vision goggles or R.C. cars to be found. We’ll see if that box is shiny enough to yank Benjamins out of the pockets of Halo hipsters.

Next up for ‘Dan O Baby’ was her role as one of the ‘Twisties’ in a promo video for Playboy and PSP title, “The 3rd Birthday”, which you can see below.
