New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be in Lake Charles soon as he and his partners prepare to open a new Walk On's franchise. He took a moment to chat with Gator 99.5's Kris and Emily in the Morning to not only tell people what they can expect from the restaurant, but how Brees got involved in it.

He said that when he first went to the Walk On's on Poydras Street in New Orleans, he thought, "you know what -- if I were ever to start my own sports bar, this is exactly what it would be." Brees and his wife, Brittany, became co-owners of the brand in May of this year. The company is expecting to expand into Texas in the next year or so. The Lake Charles location will be the fifth location statewide -- including Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houma and Lafayette.

The couple's restaurant holdings also include Jimmy John's franchises and co-ownership in Happy's Irish Pub.

He also takes a moment to talk about how the team is recuperating during a bye week before meeting the Houston Texans on Nov. 29. Mostly, Brees said the "banged up" team mostly needs the week just to get healthy.

"Here we are, 10 weeks in the season. You know, we're 4-6, which is not, honestly, the record that, I think, we aspired to at this point. And yet, you know, we still have a chance. Each game is just -- it's so valuable."

Looking ahead, Brees gave credit to Houston's defense, citing that they've only given up one touchdown in their last nine quarters. "They're playing extremely well right now," he noted. He said the two teams were similar in that they've both been searching for an identity in the early part of the season.

He also briefly addressed the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, noting "We all loved Rob, and I mean, that's just part of our business sometimes is when things like that happen -- with players and coaches."
