George Lucas has given up Lucasfilm! Disney has aquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in cash and stock. He's leaving the Star Wars legacy to long time producer Kathleen Kennedy, and Disney plans on releasing Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015! Holy Crap!!! Keep reading to see what Lucas himself had to say.

I honestly never thought I'd see it. At least not in George Lucas' lifetime.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next… It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come.”

...after the next film is released, there will be a new Star Wars film every two to three years after that. There is no news on whether the movies will follow the saga of the Skywalker family.

What do y'all think about THAT???
