Internationally-known chef and Opelousas native, Paul Prudhomme has died this morning in New Orleans at the age of 75.

Prudhomme was born and raised in Opelousas and in 1957 he opened his first restaurant which was a hamburger stand. His culinary career that followed gained him worldwide recognition.

He became executive chef at Commander's Palace in New Orleans in 1975, then opened the world famous K-Paul's in the French Quarter with his wife Kay. Funeral services for Prudhomme are being arranged.
