Arrest Made In Iberia Parish Homicide

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says his office has made an arrest in the case of a woman found dead in her home in the 700 block of Elizabeth Street in New Iberia.

Detectives believe the crime took place around 9:45 p.m. on May 1, and was allegedly committed by  17-year-old Rickey Thibodeaux.

Deputies arrested Thibodeaux for allegedly killing the 57-year-old female. 

He has been charged with 1st degree murder and resisting arrest by failure to identify himself to detectives.

The Coroner's office is still working to find out the exact cause of the woman's death.
